Frequently Asked Questions

What is "Insolation" and why does it matter?

Solar insolation is the amount of sunlight available for energy production. It affects how much electricity a solar system can generate in a specific location.

How long do solar panels actually last?

Many modern solar panels carry 25-year production warranties and may keep generating after that, though output usually declines gradually over time.

Is net metering included in the savings?

The estimate assumes exported or offset electricity has value, but actual net metering rules vary by utility and region. Check your local tariff before making a financial decision.

Methodology & Trust

How the solar payback estimate works

Annual generation is estimated from system capacity and a regional solar-production assumption. Bill savings are estimated by comparing generated electricity with your utility rate and bill baseline.

Payback compares estimated upfront system cost, optional battery cost, and incentives against annual bill savings. Lifetime savings use a 25-year planning horizon and simplified degradation assumptions.

Solar economics are local. Roof orientation, shade, inverter choice, export tariffs, maintenance, financing, and permitting can change outcomes materially.
